The last Change

The last Change

He heard a howl coming from the forest. His heart thumped a bit louder with a realization that it was time to change. He formed a fist of his hand, while his body trembled frenziedly. A sharp pain ripped through his backbone making him feel dizzy.
NO! I don’t want to change, he kept on saying.
He closed his eyes and concentrated hard to control his body. Then a beautiful face flashed through his mind.
“Rose,” he breathed.
His lips stretched with a hint of smile on them. He wanted to hold her in his arms, embrace her, and let her know what she meant to him.
“Rose, I love you,” he muttered.
This was his last change – a change that will make him lose his identity. He will not be able to transform back to human form. He will not be able to hold Rose in his arms, ever again.
A drop of tear rolled down on his cheek, thinking about Rose. He wanted to let her know how much he loved her, but it was too late now. Going away from Rose was difficult for him but he had no choice. His body was already responding to the change – the last change.
I wished I had confessed my love to her, he thought.

Taking a deep breath, he made up his mind.
“There is no use of regretting. She is my past; I have to be where I am destined to be. My pack needs me,” he said, loudly.
Pushing away all the thoughts from his mind, he gave up the control of his body. He ran towards the forest with whatever energy he could summon. The pain in his backbone grew stronger, making him fall on the ground. Within no time, an unknown power took over his body. The pain grew intense for few seconds and then it completely stopped, giving him internal strength. Before he could know anything, he was transformed into a beastly creature – werewolf.

That day I realised...

A guest post by my friend "Random Thinker".

It was raining heavily since last night. Almost 8:30 Am and it was still dark outside. I was in hurry to catch my bus to go to office.  I took rickshaw from my house till bus depot. I secured myself from rain by standing in queue under bus stop roof.  People were standing quietly in queue waiting for bus, some enjoying rain and some getting irritated.  Suddenly rain stopped and we all got blessed by sun shine.

I was happy that rain finally stopped and now I don’t have to be very cautious to protect myself from rain.  As I was enjoying the atmosphere and looking everywhere, I saw one boy standing at the corner of the bus depot. He was completely wet, had worn nothing but shorts, bare foot, shivering, it looked like he was out there in rain from past night.  I don’t know why but it gave me very disgusting feeling and I turned my face to opposite side.
People were making weird faces while looking at that boy and then were behaving like that boy doesn’t exist.  From corner of my eye I again dare to  looked at that boy , he was shivering badly and it seemed that he had not ate anything (might be he is hungry from past 1,2 .. , I don’t know how many days).

Our bus came at bus stop and every one hurried to get into the bus. Suddenly that boy also moved towards the bus and tried to get into the bus. People started shouting on him. The bus conductor came and scolded on that boy and asked him to go away from the bus. The scared boy moved away from bus, still shivering. I got into the bus and sat near window. Our bus started and as our bus moved I looked again at that boy, he was still there standing bare foot and looking at us with his big deep black eyes.  Suddenly I felt very bad, my heart started paining.

I asked one question to myself – Why I did not helped that boy? One cup of tea and some biscuits could have been great relief for him (and it could have cost me not more than Rs. 10), then why I did not do that? Is it because of money? No, of course not, Rs. 10 is not such a big deal for me. Then what was the issue?
I got my answer. I t was not the money or time issue. I did not helped that boy because I thought what other will thing if I helped that boy?  , what if somebody sees me with that boy? I did not helped that boy because everybody were hating him. I did not helped that boy because I thought he does not belong to us. Somewhere I challenged his existence also.  And as all these thoughts started coming into my head, I felt very shallow, selfish and fake. Here I am who always complain because 1/4th part of my pant got wet due to rain and there was a boy out there in rain from past night , standing quietly , looking at people with big hopeful eyes with hope that someone will help.

How many times it happens that we are in position to help others but by giving stupid excuses we just escapes from our responsibilities. I have made a biggest mistake, but I am ready to correct it by changing my attitude.  Change always should start from the man in the mirror.

Greener is more happier

Sunday evening, I sat in my backyard listening to music and enjoying the fresh air. Suddenly I heard “Hello , Can you hear me?” It was soft tiny voice, never heard anyone like that before. I started looking for the source. Again the voice came “Hey here, look up, it’s me”

I looked up at the tree above me, and saw a pair of sparrow sitting on one of its branch.
“ No, of course they are not talking hehehehe “ I thought.
But again I heard same voice “Hello, yes it’s me up here”. And then I was horrified seeing a sparrow talking to me. Seeing my horrified look one of them came down on lower branch and said “Don’t be frighten, we do talk sometimes”

I was dumbfounded, didn’t know what to say to this bird.

“Hi, I m Aggie and this is my friend Anna”
“Oh hi, I m Sneha. But why are you talking to me” (sounded like an idiot)
“Do you know some place where we can find more trees so that we can make our nest in safer place?” Aggie asked chirping.
“There aren’t bunch of trees left in Mumbai sadly. You might find one or two here and there, but not lot of them.” I said.
She look sad. Both Aggie and Anna exchanged look of concern.
“We don’t want to go out of Mumbai. We were born here, grew up here. Even our parents and grandparents were born in Mumbai. Mumbai is so close to our heart, but don’t know all of sudden evergreen Mumbai turned into concrete Mumbai. We also have food shortage and water shortage.”
I felt really sad when I heard their problem. But what could I do make them happy? Our Mumbai no more has trees which can home all these birds.

I asked Aggie “Where will you go now?
She replied sadly “I have no other option, but to leave Mumbai”.
“What if we plant more trees?” I asked hopefully.
Suddenly her face lit up and she replied” Then me and all my family will come back to Mumbai and will make Mumbai’s atmosphere happy by our song and chirping.”

Are we not going to help these innocent birds? Will we feel happy to leave the place which we have grown up in? It won’t hurt to plant at least one tree to make our Mumbai green. Summer is really exhausting for us and so for them. One bowl of water outside your window will help these birds to refresh themselves. Aggie and Anna are happy to come back to Mumbai, but are we ready to provide them what they want? Even though I mentioned Mumbai, but every developed city is facing the same problem. We have traded greenery and fresh air for cement roads and skyscrapers. Little Changes makes big difference.

Just Kidding!!!!

My friends and I were on a trip to riverside when I saw one of my friend throwing pebbles in pond. I could tell from her face that she was enjoying this childish act. I could not stop asking her what was so interesting about this.

Here, take this and try yourself”, she gave me one small pebble.
I laughed seeing that pebble and thought “What am I doing” but just for sake I threw it in water without any enthusiasm. Obviously it didn’t go too far.

Come on, you can do better. Put some energy and throw it far” teased my friend.
I picked small pebble lying on the ground nearby. This time with little interest.
AND Splashhhhh!!! It jumped two times on water and went far enough from first one.

Third pebble
Fourth pebble
Fifth!!
And on and on….I was in game....
I felt like I am throwing my frustration and worries in water far away from me. We laugh when someone around us start acting childish but once we try the same we know how much refreshing and rejuvenating it is. There is child in all of us, sitting quietly in one corner of our heart and impatiently waiting to get release and enjoy. This incident helped me setting lose a child inside me. Now most of time I am kid more than adult. Feels good.....

Met the right one yet?

She was talking nonstop about random stuffs and he was looking at her, thinking about something.
Why are you looking at me like that?” she enquired.
Uh nothing, I was just thinking” he replied.
About what?” she questioned.
He took her hand in his and asked her “Why didn’t we met earlier?I wasted 20 years of my life without you”.
God wanted us to meet few wrong people before we met right one. This is how we realized that we are made for each other”, she replied as a matter of fact.
Meeting her eyes he said “Now that we met the right one, I wish we get blessed with long life. I have already wasted so many days without you. Now I want to live every moment of my life with you”.

Her First glance

It was raining heavily that night. I my cellphone network was down. I saw a telephone booth on the other side of the road. “I should call dad, he must be waiting for my call”, I thought. I ran towards the telephone booth in the heavy rain. Dailed my father’s number...his phone was ringing.

I glanced outside on the main road, it was clear, no traffic at all. And then a white car stopped on main road. A young girl got down from the car. Nearby some kids were enjoying the rain...jumping, dancing and playing in the heavy shower. She was enjoying their dance standing in heavy rain. And then all of a sudden she took off her sandle and joined them. Like a kid she freed herself, jumped and danced enjoying the rain… I was just staring at her, as if something struck me.

Hello…Hello…”, I heard my dad’s voice coming from phone

I was not able to take my eyes off her. She looked so beautiful dancing in the rain. So pure, so elegant...

Dad, It’s me, Delhi from Maddy”, like an idiot I jumbled words. But I was too busy and engrossed in the scene.

Hello Maddy…Hello...you there?”, my dad recognized my voice.

I was bewitched and then I knew she was the one I was waiting for

Dad, I saw her”, I said to my dad on phone.

Who???”, my dad was confused on my funny statement.

My kind of girl”, I confessed to him.

And then she moved towards her car ready to go...

Dad she is going….going” I felt like losing her...
